* Imagine story-telling as a tool for transformation & initiation.
For most of human history story-telling has been a crucial part of men’s initiation and empowerment. Nowadays story-telling has been mostly reduced to mere entertainment -- a mass-produced product to be consumed. This has cut men off from the wisdom of the lived past, present, and future – from actually knowing other men’s stories.
In this playful, creative event you’ll tell key parts of your life story to a small group of men of different ages, and they will retell your story in spoken word poetry, short skits, psycho-drama sculptures, paintings/drawings, and other creative techniques.
Our goal is for you to tell the story of your life to men of different ages, and for you to help retell the stories of other men – in ways that reflect you and the wisdom of the inter-generational group you’re apart of. Ultimately this is about friendship, play, creativity, and initiation through story-telling.
DIVERSITY: We welcome men of all ages, sizes, shapes, colors, orientations, story-telling abilities, and life backgrounds (including trans guys). Diversity on all levels helps us learn the many ways we can be men.
