OK, so in the wake of all this Prop 8 stuff, some people have re-awakened the mistaken idea that all humans are supposed to breed--and that this ability to breed is a qualification for marriage--and the only function in human society.
But I haven't pointed the finger back at them and asked about their tradition of priests in the dominant religions. They seem to have no idea that they've been harboring non-breeding men, and furthermore that these men went to monasteries to be cloistered with other men.
You can see where this is headed, but for some reason, the [flimsy] adherents of these religions don't see the connection: namely that the youngest boys [and girls] of large families end up Queer, and that they were traditionally sent to the monasteries because of their obvious unfitness for marrying the opposite sex [in order to create a property bond between significant families].
Did you not know that priests are [often closeted] Queers? Did you not know that Queers are the original shaman priest of the Tribal social construct, and that these genetically predisposed [often lone] priests were later adopted by the institutional priesthood?
